Potter’s wheel cycle for beginners + glazing session (English)

This workshop is suitable for all levels. Especially recommended to those who have never used the potter’s wheel and those who have already done an introduction to throwing but feel like reviewing the basics. We will guide you through this magical process, step by step!

Workshop in 4 sessions of 3 hours : 28/11 to 19/12 from 10:00 to 13:00

Workshop for 6 participants.

Day 1: welcome coffee & introduction to the studio // how to choose and prepare your clay // correct position at the wheel // the art of centering the clay // demonstration: making a small cylinder

Day 2: practicing the centering and pulling up cylinders // demonstration: making a small bowl

Day 3: practicing the centering and pulling up small cylindrical and open forms // introduction to trimming: how to center and fix your work on the wheel for trimming, how and why to make a foot // practicing trimming

Day 4: Demonstration: making a closed form // free practice 

Day 5: Trimming of your works // Selecting the works you want to keep (5 pieces max)// How and why to recycle your clay // wrap up & what are the next steps?
 
Glazing session

A 3 hour glazing session is included in the price of the workshop. You will learn how to glaze your pieces made during the workshop.

You will be able to book the session from the month of September. We will organize a session in English, Marta will give you more information about this during the workshop.

You do not need any particular skills to attend this class.

Please bring an apron/ working clothes, a (kitchen) towel and something to take notes/ make sketches. Please note that some types of jewellery like rings and bracelets, as well as long nails, can make it more difficult throw on a potter’s wheel. 

Instructions for booking your initiation to the glaze session will be sent by e-mail, Marta will give you more informations about it during teh workshop. Once glazed, your pieces will be kept for 6 months at the workshop, after this period, we reserve the right to give them away.

The price of the course is calculated as accurately as possible, so we cannot afford to withdraw: we need a sufficient number of participants to cover our costs and registration is a commitment. Nevertheless, we provide the following clauses:

if withdrawal up to 30 days before: 100% refund
if withdrawal up to 15 days before: 50% refund
After this time, for whatever reason, there is no refund. You can replace yourself with another person and settle with them.

A registration is valid for all the sessions mentioned, it is not possible to interchange (participate in another session of an equivalent training) or to reimburse one or more sessions.

Possibility of payment in 2 to 3x free of charge: option available at the time of payment of your order.
